ScoopFree SmartSpin

Why it is listed

SmartSpin is PetSafe’s clumping drum at a list price under $400. You get an exit sensor, a sealed 6 L drawer, and ordinary litter — not Whisker’s WasteID or 90-day trial. It is the value globe-shaped alternative on this list.

Pros & cons

Pros

• PetSafe PAL00-18160: senses when the cat has exited, quietly sifts into a sealed 6-liter drawer with deodorizer, up to 2 weeks for one cat, 4× odor claim vs a traditional pan (PetSafe’s study language, not ours).
• Works with clumping litter (premium clumping recommended). Pet Companion app: weight and visit logs, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Control panel: on-demand clean, child lock, waste-drawer capacity.
• 12 in entry height; manufacturer says cats up to 25 lb. Listed $359.99 with a 45-day satisfaction return.

Cons

• No 90-day trial like Whisker. No published 3 lb kitten floor — the safety FAQ on this page only cites the 12 in height.
• 25 lb cap. “Multi-cat” is marketing copy without a cat-count on the spec table.
• Odor “4×” is a PetSafe comparison to traditional pans, not a head-to-head with Litter-Robot.
