Litter-Robot 5

Why it is listed

Litter-Robot 5 is Whisker’s current full-size globe. The comparison chart is the reason it leads: WasteID, a larger drawer (~10 days for one cat), a 3–30 lb range, and up to five cats. It is expensive. Buy it for the mechanism and sensors Whisker actually documents, not for a health diagnosis from the app.

Pros & cons

Pros

• Official Whisker comparison chart: WasteID (urine vs feces), waste-level sensing at any fill, up to 5 cats, 3–30 lb, ~10-day 1-cat drawer, 22×27 in footprint, 29.9 in tall, carpet tray built in.
• Litter-Robot 5 product page: QuietSift cycles, Whisker app weight/visit tracking, sealed carbon-filtered waste drawer, 90-day in-home trial, 1-year warranty, clumping clay litter (GreatLitter recommended).
• SafeCat / Omnisense language shared across the line: lasers, weight sensors, and anti-obstruction; kittens from 3 lb in automatic mode.

Cons

• Highest list price on this table ($799). Whisker+ is optional for longer history; we did not score paid insights as a quality bonus.
• Still a large appliance. Whisker’s own 4 vs 5 page says LitterHopper autofill is “coming soon” on 5 — LR4 has it now.
• A robot does not replace the n+1 box rule or a vet visit when urination changes (ASPCA litter-box guidance).
