Pros & cons

Pros

• orijenpetfoods.com/en-US Original Cat PDP 2026-09-02: All Breeds & Life Stages. ORIJEN Original Cat Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.
• Metabolizable energy 4120 kcal/kg (515 kcal per 250 ml / 8 oz cup). Guaranteed analysis includes crude protein min 40%, DHA min 0.2%, EPA min 0.2%, taurine min 0.2%. Available sizes named: 4 lb / 7 lb / 12 lb. Made in the USA with the world’s finest ingredients (U.S. PDP copy).
• WholePrey animal ingredients named (chicken, turkey, herring, turkey giblets, salmon among the first ingredients). No subscription required on the maker page.

Cons

• ALS includes kittens; this is not an adult-only 1–6 maintenance formula and not a 7+ senior bag. The URL slug still says cat-kitten. The page’s how-to-feed tool is a calculator, not a printed cup table in the HTML we captured, and no transition days are named.
• Formulated, not a feeding-trial sentence. No maker USD. 12 lb is under 15 lb. Lentils/peas/chickpeas are in the ingredient list; grain-free is not a bonus.
• We are not veterinarians. High energy density (515 kcal/cup) is not an automatic adult indoor calorie match.
