Why it is listed
Rover is the live U.S. page for hiring a private, rewards-based trainer (virtual optional) after GoodPup’s domain started redirecting here. You pay the trainer’s rate plus 11%. It is not a six-week syllabus and not a diagnosis. Meet them. Ask about tools and bite history.

Pros & cons
Pros
- rover.com/dog-training 2026-09-02: book a private dog trainer; personalized training; in-home, park, store, or anywhere you and the trainer decide; virtual training named as an option. To list, trainers must pass a third-party background check, share a certificate of education or certification from an approved program, and commit to rewards-based training. Rewards-based is defined on that page (treats, play, toys; least intrusive; not punishing mistakes).
- Chat with the trainer, plan sessions, track progress in one place. Rover app is linked (iOS App Store URL on the page). Owner booking fee 11% at checkout (Rover Help Center service-fees article) also covers the Rover Guarantee as a reimbursement program — that dollar cap is on Rover’s sitting/guarantee pages, not printed as a training-specific cap on the training PDP, so we do not move the $25,000 figure onto this row.
- goodpup.com and app.goodpup.com redirected to rover.com/training/search this pass. Rover is the live official U.S. consumer training URL for that brand family. No membership required to search. Meet/chat before you confirm a first session (FAQ: proposed first date is not final).
Cons
- This is a marketplace, not a PetSmart-style syllabus. Quality curriculum points are zero — “puppy manners or advanced skill” is not a named 6-week outline. Trainers set rates; the training PDP has no from-price USD. Value named-from-price points are zero. Cancel follows the provider’s policy, not a training-specific refund window on that PDP.
- Background-check copy on rover.com/background-checks is written for sitters and walkers; the training PDP separately requires a check plus a certificate. We do not pretend every trainer is a veterinary behaviorist. 24/7 support and Guarantee dollars are not scored from cloned sitting rows.
- Meet the trainer. Ask about method, tools (including any e-collar), bite history, and whether they will refer medical pain out. A marketplace is not a licensed kennel and not a diagnosis. The old GoodPup $34/week virtual subscription is unpublished while the domain redirects.
