Pros & cons

Pros

autoparts.toyota.com Pet Seat Cover – Tan PT248-89190-40 (official Toyota Parts Center Online, fetched 2026-09-07): $279.00. Protects second-row seats from scratches, rips, mud, and dirt while traveling with a pet.
PDP: breathable quilted padded base; precision tailored for seat/shoulder-belt access; embroidered 4Runner logo; machine-washable; black/gray/tan. Toyota Genuine Accessory Warranty when installed by a trained Toyota-approved installer.
Shows Toyota still sells named pet interior protection through the official parts store.

Cons

Seat protection only — not a barrier, ramp program, or pet climate mode. Older Toyota Newsroom Kurgo accessory promotions are not a current deep Pet-Friendly category like Subaru’s.
From-price $279 is high for a cover; item may be dealer pickup only per PDP notes. Not for use with a child seat per PDP.
Unrestrained pets are dangerous. A seat cover is not a restraint.
