Why it is listed
Rover is the U.S. walking marketplace that names 30/60-minute walks, Meet & Greet, an 11% owner fee, and $25,000 eligible vet-care reimbursement. Its own walking FAQ says GPS is a report-card map, not live tracking, and it does not name on-demand matching. Meet the walker. Ask about leash, keys, and escape. A walk is not a drop-in. The Rover Guarantee is not insurance.

Pros & cons
Pros
- rover.com/dog-walking 2026-09-02: 30- or 60-minute walks; recurring or one-time; Repeat Weekly named; filters include dog size. rover.com/dog-walking-app: book and pay in the app; GPS map of the walk; pee/poo and food/water alerts; photo updates and a note; 24/7 support; Rover Guarantee; background-checked walkers. rover.com/app: iOS and Android; in-app messages, photo updates, and GPS maps of dog walks.
- rover.com/background-checks: every new sitter/walker undergoes an enhanced third-party criminal background check (NSOPW, national criminal database, county courts by address history). Basic badge is mostly pre-January 2022 profiles that have not upgraded. Walking page recommends a Meet & Greet before booking. rover.com homepage: every booking backed by the Rover Guarantee, including up to $25,000 reimbursement for eligible vet care, plus 24/7 support.
- Help Center: owner booking fee is 11% finalized at checkout; provider take-home is 80% (20% provider fee) except California/pilot notes. Recurring walks: same-day cancellation and a required Rover Card (map, time, distance) before the walker is paid.
Cons
- rover.com/dog-walking FAQ in the same capture: “Rover doesn’t offer live GPS tracking for dog walks, but you can request your dog walker to send a report card with a map.” That is a post-walk map, not Wag-style live follow. We still score GPS named; we do not pretend it is live. The walking PDP does not name on-demand/same-day matching — ease on-demand points are zero. Do not clone the sitter-app ease 10.
- Walkers set rates. rover.com/dog-walking does not print a bookable walk from-price in USD (dog-walking-rates is a national average table, $21.45 for 30 minutes — marketing data, not a checkout from-price). Value named-from-price points are zero. Off-platform cash/check payment voids the Rover Guarantee and 24/7 support.
- The Rover Guarantee is a reimbursement program, not insurance (rover.com/terms/guarantee). Meet-and-greet injuries are excluded. A walk is not a drop-in visit (Rover lists Drop-In Visits as a separate service). An app is not a licensed kennel. Meet the walker. Ask about leash, keys, meds, and escape. Claims have terms.
