Why it is listed

A real U.S. kitten kibble page with DHA and a first-year age line. We could not quote AAFCO from the page, and the feeding copy says maintenance. That is why it sits below the AAFCO-quoted rows.

Editor note

Ranked #5 in best kitten food.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • iams.com Healthy Kitten PDP 2026-09-02: dry kitten food with chicken as the #1 ingredient, designed for a cat’s first year. Omega-3 DHA for brain development named. Bag sizes named 3 / 3.5 / 7 / 16 lb. 4-day gradual mix-in.
  • Official bag photo from iams.com. Front of bag on that asset: Kitten 1–12 Months and ‘100% Complete & Balanced Kitten Nutrition.’ Currently sold U.S. consumer page.
  • Pregnant or nursing cats are pointed at IAMS kitten food in the feeding guidelines.

Cons

  • AAFCO nutritional adequacy sentence is not on this PDP. The feeding-guidelines block says IAMS HEALTHY KITTEN is complete and balanced for maintenance. That is the opposite of a growth-profile quote. We do not invent a growth AAFCO line. Quality is scored without the AAFCO bonus.
  • kcal/cup is not in the visible nutrition copy we captured (a site calculator field contains 484 kcal ME/cup — we did not treat a hidden form value as a labeled calorie statement). No maker USD. ‘Veterinarians recommend IAMS’ is marketing.
  • Cow milk is still not kitten food. We are not veterinarians.
